Building Collapse - Breaking

CAMPUS CATASTROPHE - part of Union University’s Pennick Academic Complex roof in Jackson, TN abruptly collapsed around 8:45 PM during a strong thunderstorm, partially flooding the building with rainwater, gas from a broken line, and debris.

The collapse was centered in the old wellness center, which was fortunately unoccupied as the gym had recently been moved to a new spot in the building.

The cause and extent of the damage is unknown as of now, but it is likely that nearby parts of the building have been destabilized and are not safe for students.

All classes that were located in this building have been cancelled until further notice.
